Welcome to the Shire of Heyford!
As winter yields to spring and the days grow longer and hotter, the royal custom is to flee the heat of London and enjoy a relaxing progress through the English Countryside.
It is here that we find ourselves in the Shire of Heyford. The year is 1592, and Queen Elizabeth Regina Gloriana is arrived for a grand celebration to ease the burden of state that rests so heavily on her great shoulders.
‘Tis been a year since Master Playwright William Shakespeare presented his worke “The Tragedy of Tybalt and Mercutio”. Though well recieved by the teeming masses, Her Majesty implored the upstart crow to focus instead on the two younger side characters. Upon taking her advice, the Globe Theatre ran “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” for 10 sold-out months. Can Shakespeare continue his success with a romantic comedy set in Messina, or is it only death and tragedy that the people want to see? We shall find out soon enough.
Of course, the play isn’t the only thing. Each villager, cook, entertainer, artisan, and courtier has a story to tell, wares to peddle, and feasts to cook. The only problem for you, dear traveller, is that one day is simply not enough time to experience all there is to offer!
Foode and Drynke
Juicy Turkey Leggs, Ice Cold Ale, and Onion Flowers await the hungry traveller. Wee Nippers can enjoy family-priced Hot Dogs and Hamburgers. Between feasts, a Handmade Boba Tea, Warm Pretzel, and Italian Ice will tempt and tease the senses.
Entertainment
Jesters, Jugglers, and Jousters all await the Queen’s visit to delight with their skills. World-Class entertainers from around the globe have travelled to the Shire of Heyford for a chance to amaze Her Majesty and her guests. Bagpipers, Fiddlers, and Dancers promise to enchant the visiting traveller.
Artisans
Hand-Crafted wares abound in the Shire of Heyford. Travelers are encouraged to visit one of our many encampments for demonstrations in Pottery, Blacksmithing, and Glassblowing. For the fashion-forward, Leather Boots, Bespoke Bodices, and Feathered Caps can be fit to you by Master Craftsmen.
